The Polo Shirt isn't Dead

Polo shirts get a lot of hate. In 2015, a Today Show writer said it was time to put the shirts out to pasture. GQ shot back and called her a lunatic. I stand with GQ.

I don't have any squeaky cleans with me in isolation. Here's the best picture I can find. Yes, that's a live chicken. It was a scavenger hunt.

Polo shirts have a place in your closet. But you have to wear the right one. Choose wrong and you'll be Steve Carrell in Crazy, Stupid, Love. Lucky for you, I'm your Ryan Gosling.

The right polo is welcome at your local brewpub, grilling in the backyard, and the farmer's market on Saturday morning.

My default polo is guessed it... Patagonia. OK, I'm a little obsessed. But the clothes are high quality, fit well, and made responsibly. For basics, you can't go wrong with Patagonia.

This used to be The Squeaky Clean polo. Patagonia renamed it this year to the boring "Organic Cotton Lightweight Polo." To me, it will always be the squeaky clean.

Lightweight is a good word however. I've worn my Squeaky Cleans on 6 mile bike rides to the Farmer's Market in 100ºF South Carolina heat. I'm not going to lie and tell you I wasn't hot and sweaty, but it could have been a lot worse.

It's made from super soft organic cotton, is Fair Trade sewn, and sports a handy front pocket. There are 10 color options this season so there's an option for everyone.
