Issue 203 - The One With The Last Woman Standing
This is my first Friday outdoor movie recommendation so it has to be a classic (classic in the outdoor adventure sense anyway 😉 ).

Issue 203
Today will be a shorter issue, as 75% of our readers are on Thanksgiving Week break and the news volume seems much smaller. We will be back in full force on Monday.

Rad Gear: Rocky Talkie
(no pun, that's the name)

Do you ever lose your children? Maybe when you're skiing? They dive into the trees and then you don't hear from them again for 20 minutes? Is there no phone service but, even if there were, your hands are too cold to tap on the screen? Doesn't sound familar? Hmmmm, maybe it's just me! Walkie talkies that have range around mountains are a great idea for keeping communication levels high on your adventures! I can see many applications including camping, hiking and exploring remote areas.
I featured this product in the Gear Reviews a week or so ago because it was called Rocky Talkie..like Rocky Mountains or maybe just rocks. It's now been field tested by Expedition Portal and the results sound promising, as long as you don't want to use them in the City...but really, with a name like Rocky Talkie, this ain't no urban product. Last Woman Standing: Jan Morris, the last living person from the epic 1953 first successful summit of Everest, passed away at the age of 94 after leading a life that included adventurer, journalist, soldier and novelist. Born James Morris, Jan underwent gender reassignment surgery in 1972—one of the first in the world at the time—and became a woman. Amazing story. (4 min read and 2 min watch)

VIMFF: I've been really pushing relaxation lately...maybe I'm just tired of the global pandemic, as I'm sure you guys are too. Well, it's a good time to chill out and watch some new films. The Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival is online and streaming from Nov 20 - 29. They're featuring new films about climbing, snowsports, the environment and mountain culture... about sums up what TDT stands for!! When you love something, you accept responsibility for part of it. (Check it out on their site and watch the trailer)
