TDT Poll:

This is an oldie-but-a-goodie...just modified to add a little mountain spirit:

Would you rather fight ten Pika-sized Bears or one Bear-sized Pika?

Today's Top Non-Mountain Cultural News: I pulled this chart from one of the thousands of newsletters I get daily. Apparently, hot is hot right now.

Even the media industry has been cashing in on the hot sauce craze, with internet sensations like Hot Oneswhere celebrities are interviewed while eating increasingly spicy chicken wings.

Play More: Britain's Biggest Roof Climb

That is a lot of shit hanging from his belt. ⬆️

It's been a while since I featured some rock climbing...mostly because it is super scary to watch and makes me bite my nails. Click the climbing emoji here ->🧗🏽‍♀️, if you are an actual rock climber...I will report back!

Watch a couple of British dudes, Pete and Calum (I don't actually know them, so maybe I should be more formal? 😁), embark on a scary "horizontal" journey to establish Britain's biggest roof climb.

The 100-meter, three-pitch route requires squeezing, chimneys, cracks. In this video, Pete tries to climb his new project over a number of sessions, with a few hiccups along the way. (1 min read)

Due to the lengthiness, this is a Lunch Break Video (14 min watch). If you like to learn, the guys show us many technical aspects of climbing...like what a real crack is (hint, it's not 🍑).

Waste Less: Goodbye, Paper Trail Maps

Just recently, in Issue 194, we talked about the dude (James Niehues) who paints all the ski resort maps in North America. Those maps are amazing and could remain amazing but in digital form only. Everyone grab all the paper maps you can this year as collectibles because it looks like ski maps will be going the way of the dodo.

The most immediate reason is COVID-19. We rarely see actual physical restaurant menus anymore, so it's a no-brainer to see the same thing happen to the resort maps.

The not-so-immediate (but more important) reason is : we don't need any more paper waste!

How To: See bar code on ski resort sign...aim your phone at said bar code...map instantly on the phone...boom. (3 min read)

Do Better: Sustainable Skiing Influencers Weigh In

Watch two ski "influencers" in the Revelstoke wilderness, chat about electric cars and reducing fossil fuels — anything that helps make a difference for the planet and the mountains many of us call home. Brings a tear to my eye...maybe I could be an influencer...I should start a newsletter! 🤯 (7 min watch)
